April 20 — Church Conference Vote
Our journey is reaching an important milestone – our Church Conference vote on Apr. 20. The Campus Design Team has been sharing a new vision of growth and expansion for our campus facilities in Town Hall meetings. Per direction from the Book of Discipline of the United Methodist Church, we have finalized and presented the preliminary design plans, costs, and financial plan for our church to consider for the vote. These plans provide a complete holistic design of additions to the campus and changes to existing buildings that will bring our campus into proper balance and synergy overall in support of our overarching goal of creating a design that enables us to continue to be "a place of inspired worship, and a launching point for missions and ministries."

The holistic design to bring our campus into proper balance and synergy overall includes the following elements:

  1. It represents a master plan for building out the entire campus;
  2. It represents a holistic, whole campus approach that is consistent with all decision criteria and parameters put before the Campus Design Team from the congregation;
  3. It includes 5 major elements:
    • A new building, the Discipleship Center, attached to the CLC for educational, large meeting, and ministry support space;
    • A new building, the Crossroads gathering space, that ties together the CLC, Sanctuary and FH2 that will be the main entry point to the church buildings and serve as a fellowship, greeting area;
    • A new building, the Worship Arts Center, to replace FH1 that will provide our worship arts people with a large support, storage and practice area as well as provide auxiliary support rooms for families & the pastors;
    • Sanctuary & CLC renovations to increase worship capacity and improve worship experience;
    • And finally, rerouting of traffic flow, parking and landscaping.
  4. The build out of these 5 areas will represent a single phased project with a sequenced construction schedule. The sequenced construction will enable us to move people around during the construction schedule with minimal disruptions.
  5. The total construction effort to complete the 5 major elements will be 5 years.

The elements of the design, in total, enable us to experience the following outcomes: expand our worship space, enhance our worship experiences, and dramatically extend our missions and programs in our community and the world. We ask that in your discernment and prayer that you look at the totality of the design and its outcomes as this is a campus wide building program that will enable is to extend and expand our growth and reach on this campus for the next 15 years.

This is an important milestone in our church history. The Campus Design Team earnestly hopes we look back and see this as a great moment of movement towards Gods vision for Apex United Methodist Church. Please keep this in your prayers as we enter this exciting time!
