From Pastor David
I was in the Apple store in New York City last week, surrounded by people from a variety of nationalities - many speaking different languages, but all attracted by Apple’s fascinating technology – interacting with the latest computer gadgets. And I thought – how is the Church communicating the Gospel good news to the people of this new world?

I believe we Christians have an even greater drawing power than the wonder of modern technology. Discipleship is a call to participate in changing the world by loving. Christian spirituality is not a program but more of a discovery procedure. We are charged with being imaginative risk takers who seek to live Christ centered lives – lives that are not centered in ourselves, but beyond ourselves. So therefore, as long as we are alive, we are called and co-missioned to discover authentic and godly ways of being in the world with God and with others. This is the challenge of missional Christianity.

We have two immediate opportunities before us: Wake Interfaith Hospitality Network is sending homeless families to our church this coming week to house, feed and care for. We need a few more folks to help in this ministry of graceful hospitality. Please don’t take this as an announcement for someone else – if the Spirit speaks to you, step forward and get involved – we still have a number of tasks to be done that will help us to share the love of Christ to some of the neediest of our brothers and sisters. Please contact Sue Muller at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or 387-8404.

The second is our emerging ministry with our Latino brothers and sisters. Pastor Jose Luis is bringing together a group of us who are praying and seeking the mind of God as to how we can put out the welcome mat of Christian hospitality to our immediate neighbors. He is in need of others to join this important new work. You may contact him at the church office or website.

The challenge of missional spirituality has come to our doorstep – will we open the door?

Grace and Peace,
David
