Congregation and Community Care |
|
Congregation and Community Care at Apex United Methodist Church desires to help people experience the love of Christ in a variety of life situations where care, enrichment, prayer, and support are needed for non-emergency situations.
We seek to reach out and touch others with Christian care to help open the doorway for others to seek and to know the personal love, acceptance, and glory of Christ.
- Show God’s love to others by offering Christian love, prayer and support in times of need and for personal and relational spiritual growth and enrichment
- Foster an open and trusting feel of a small church where people can feel a sense of belonging
- Offer loving, personal care and attention so no one feels like an outsider
- Be the good neighbor you know would be happy to help so you don’t feel bad about asking for help
- Be the family that God wants us to be
- Provide the opportunity to grow in compassion for others, to increase one’s involvement in the church, and to put faith into action
Jesus said, "Take care of my sheep." [John 21:16]
Congregation and Community Care Ministries All Christians are called to care for each other. Our Congregation and Community Care is a shared ministry served by volunteers, the church staff and community professionals joined together to share the love of Christ with you.
- The House of Hope: a space for healing and spiritual nourishment.
Along with housing numerous ministry groups, our newly-renovated House of Hope at 206 S. Hughes St. will also house our care ministries focused on healing and strengthening our relationships with God and our relationships with other people. As the House of Hope opens, we will offer a new care ministry called Healing Spaces for the Broken Places that focuses on healing broken or damaged relationships.
- Care: Offer help to those in need
These are heart, hands and feet ministries where people share their presence in companionship and spiritual acts of kindness and those who have an immediate, known and short-term need. These ministries offer hope, comfort, encouragement and/or a helping hand during unforeseen difficult times of illness, loneliness and other difficult life experiences.
- Marriage Enrichment: Offer marriage enrichment and growth
These ministries offer education and encouragement to keep God at the center of marriage through group sessions that focus on ways to nourish, enrich and strengthen marriage.
- Personal Enrichment: Offer personal, relational, & spiritual enrichment
These ministries offer small group class discussion and encouragement to:
- Maintain healthy Christian based balance in our everyday life to achieve the relationships and purposes that God intended for us.
- Experience spiritual formation in a setting where you can respond to God’s call to a ever-deepening wholeness in Christ. You will discover spiritual practices that help you share more fully in the life of Christ.
- Prayer: Pray for those in need
Prayer is an essential part of our ministry at Apex United Methodist Church. We believe prayer to be a way in which we communicate with God, listen to God and intercede for others. We provide special prayer support for individuals and families at a particular time of need.
- Support: Offer support to experience healing from life’s crises and challenges
These ministries offer individual and group support for people dealing with a wide range of life challenges including cancer, job loss, separation, divorce, loss of a loved one, family or personal issues.
