100th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

This fall, our church has the opportunity to celebrate a significant milestone – the 100th anniversary of our sanctuary. While our church was founded in 1870 and has been active in ministry for over 145 years, we have been located on the corner of Hughes and Chatham Streets since 1917 and look forward to marking and celebrating this anniversary.

This event will feature special music, a dedication/blessing of the sanctuary, a history museum in Crossroads, fun games for the kids, and dinner.

History Museum
Spend some time in Crossroads learning about our history! We’ll have pictures, banners, artifacts and “docents” available to talk to you. We will also have a merchandise table where you can buy beautiful acrylic ornaments with a picture of our sanctuary, order a new Apex UMC t-shirt and get your new 2018 coffee mug! All items are $15/each.

Music/Sanctuary
Beginning at 4 p.m., we will have a handbell concert in the sanctuary. You may come in and sit and listen to the entire thing, or just stay for a song or two! While you are listening to the beautiful music, we hope you will look closely at our stained glass windows and read the stories behind those works of art. At 5 p.m. we will have an old-fashioned hymn sing and at 5:30 p.m. we will have a Service of Dedication and Celebration.

Dinner
We are having a homecoming potluck! Please bring an item that will serve 6-8 people from the category that corresponds with your last name: A-H, bring meat; I-R, bring sides/salads; S-Z, bring dessert. All food should be dropped off in the CLC no later than 5 p.m. We will not have outlets, so please plan accordingly for warm items.

Children/Childcare
We will have fun games and inflatables for the kids, hosted by our youth! If you would like childcare for your children ages 3 and under, please register in advance.

We hope you will make plans to join us and celebrate this wonderful milestone in the life of our church! If you have questions, please contact Heather Brown or Marnie Cohen.
