Traditional Worship Arts

Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness. – Psalm 96:9

Traditional worship arts ministries enable all persons to experience the presence of God through congregational singing and the inspiration of choral and instrumental music. Participants in the choral, handbell, and other instrumental ensembles will find opportunities for spiritual growth, Christian fellowship, and development of music skills.

Traditional worship arts at Apex UMC includes choir for all ages. Participation is open to all who are willing to invest their time and talents in this ministry.

The Chancel Choir is the primary adult vocal choir for traditional worship providing musical leadership at 11:00 services each Sunday and occasionally at 8:15 services. Numerous retreats and social events are scheduled throughout the year, allowing singers to fellowship and grow closer in their faith journey.

YOUTH CHOIR (Grades 6-12)

Youth choir is open to all middle and high school students who desire to sing and use their voice to glorify God. This dynamic choir rehearses a large variety of music on Sunday afternoons in conjunction with all of Apex’s Sunday evening youth activities. The youth choir sings regularly in worship, participates in festivals and outreach events in the community, and ends the year with a weekend tour to share its message and music with those beyond the walls of the church.
Rehearsals: Sundays, 5:00-6:00 p.m., Choir Room

The youth handbell choirs of Apex UMC offer youth the unique opportunity to ring handbells in a group setting. We currently offer two handbell choirs for youth, one advanced choir (Jubilate) and one intermediate choir (Celebration), and both groups meet simultaneously to rehearse. Our youth handbell choirs lead in worship on a regular basis throughout the school year and participate in the youth choir/handbell tour in May.

  • Rehearsals: Sundays, 4-4:50 p.m., Handbell Room/Fellowship Hall
  • Director: Georgia Meckes (Jubilate Ringers)
  • Director: Casey Purdy (Celebration Ringers)

Children learn the art of handbell ringing and serve in worship as they make a joyful noise to God. We offer two handbell choirs for children: one for experienced 4th/5th-grade ringers (Alleluia) and one for 3rd grade and beginning ringers (Rainbow). Both choirs rehearse weekly and lead in worship every other month.

  • Rehearsals: Sundays, 5:00-5:45 p.m., Handbell Room/Fellowship Hall
