News & EventsYouth Leader/Parent Meetings
On Sunday and Monday evenings, youth leaders and parents were invited to hear about our transition plan related to youth ministries on the Apex UMC campus. Thank you to those who were able to attend, share questions, and feedback for our youth leadership team, pastors, and staff parish relations committee. There are several things to celebrate from these meetings. We had great feedback from both of those meetings and appreciate all that could attend.
As you heard last week, Lennie Furlough is stepping down as our Youth Ministries Director after two and a half years of wonderful ministry.
We reminded people during both of those times that while transition is often sad and sometimes difficult that it is actually quite common in youth ministry. The average length of time that most directors stay is between 18 months and 3 years. We are blessed to have had Lennie as a part of the Apex UMC Family and are grateful to him for helping create a healthy, sustainable ministry for youth that is independent of any individual leader. His last day with us is Monday, Aug. 15.
We are excited to announce that Dana Hall and Ricky Harrison will step into the roles of Associate Directors of Youth Ministries in the interim while we search for a new director. Dana and Ricky both play an integral part in our Youth Ministries program and are excited about this opportunity. Both have received additional hours during this time to make sure we keep our youth ministry running smoothly.
Finally, all of our youth are invited to Apex Nature Park on Tuesday, Aug. 16, from 5:30-7 p.m. to say goodbye to Lennie and to thank him for all that he has done for our church. If you have any questions, please contact Pastor Amanda.
