The plea of God’s people throughout history has been for God to intervene – to come down, fix what is broken, heal what is wounded, and make real what faith struggles to imagine. We want the same things these days, don’t we? What if we invited God to come again and opened up our lives to first make room in our hearts for him.

9:35 Traditional Service
During Advent, we are excited to add a 9:35 traditional service to Sunday morning. Please join us on Dec. 3, 10 and 17.

Worship with your Family!
Children will worship with their families on Nov. 26 for Wiggle Sunday, Dec. 24, and Dec. 31. There will be no separate Sunday School or Children’s Church on these dates so children and volunteers can worship with their families. Nursery for ages 3 and under is available for all worship services, except the evening Christmas Eve services.

Cantata/Music Sunday: Dec. 10
In our traditional services, the chancel choir and orchestra will present “Season of Wonders” by Joseph Martin, a cantata pondering the miracles surrounding the promised coming and birth of Jesus. In our contemporary and contemplative spaces, we will have a service of Lessons and Carols, reflecting the Christmas story and its presence throughout scripture.

New Year’s Eve
On Dec. 31 we will have two worship services: a contemporary service at 9:35 a.m. and a traditional service at 11 a.m. We will not have our 5 p.m. contemplative service. There will be no Sunday School for children or youth; adult classes may choose their schedule. Nursery for ages 3 and under will be available for both services.

Giving Trees
This year we will have 600 tags from New Horizon Fellowship Church’s Christmas Store, which provides new toys to children in low-income families. Tags will be available on Nov. 19 and can be found on the trees in the CLC, DC and Crossroads. Suggested price range is $10-15. Return unwrapped gifts to any Giving Tree by Dec. 3. Questions? Contact Becki Leeland.

Advent Wreath Making
Join us on Sunday, Nov. 26, from 4-5 p.m. in the CLC gym and make a wreath to take home with a devotion to help you journey through the season of Advent as a family. Enjoy music by the children’s choirs and cookies as we build our wreaths together. If you stored your green wire ring from a previous year, bring it with you to reuse! To volunteer, contact Ellen Griffin.

Jingle Jam
Join us for this high-energy, fun-filled evening designed with the whole family in mind to teach and remind us the reason we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Come to the CLC gym on Friday, Dec. 8, from 6:30-8 p.m. and hear an engaging retelling of the Christmas Story that focuses on the gift of generosity, then stay for train rides, hot cocoa and cookies, games, and more! Monetary donations will be collected for UMCOR for ongoing hurricane relief.

Serve at Jingle Jam! We’ll need help with crafts, snacks, train rides, a scavenger hunt and the dance party. Sign up to help today!

Peace at The Peak
The holidays can be a hectic time. Between the parties, programs, and kids activities, it is difficult to find still and quiet places to encounter the presence of God. Drop by anytime at The Peak on Wednesday, Dec. 13, from 6-8 p.m. for an extended time of music, reflection, and prayer. Childcare provided for children through age 5, with kid-friendly activities provided for elementary-aged children.

Las Posadas
This family-friendly event begins with the Christmas story of Mary and Joseph searching for posada (shelter), complete with costumes for all participants. Join us on Friday, Dec. 15, from 6-8 p.m. in the CLC gym. We will leave the church and do a quick round of caroling downtown, returning for traditional posadas food, soup, hot chocolate, cookies and piñata breaking. Invite your friends!

Christmas Eve Offering
On Christmas Eve, our offering replenishes the Pastor’s Discretionary Fund, used by the faith community pastors throughout the year to respond to emergency and special needs for people in the greater Southwest Wake County area. This year, 10 percent of our offering will be given to Hurricane Matthew disaster relief. Please look within your hearts and give as you are able to help us care for our neighbors in 2018.

Last year our Apex campus hosted almost 3,000 people for Christmas Eve worship and we committed to making certain that each person feels welcomed, loved and served while they are here. Would you consider serving during one of our services this year? Sign up online or call the church office at 919-362-7807.
